University of Patanjali, Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar

University of Patanjali is located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, India, and was established in 2006 as part of the Patanjali Yogpeeth institute founded by yoga teacher and entrepreneur Ramdev. The university engages in state-of-the-art Ayurvedic research, combining yoga, Ayurvedic medicine, and other ancient Indian medicinal resources. As of April 2024, the university has over 1,500 students. Patanjali Yogpeeth, which houses the university, comprises two campuses: Patanjali Yogpeeth-I, commissioned on 6 April 2006, and Patanjali Yogpeeth-II, inaugurated in April 2009. In 2010, the Patanjali Ayurveda College study and research facility was commissioned as part of the university. The campus library has a special area dedicated to yoga and Ayurveda research, where ancient books are being restored and digitized. Patanjali Yogpeeth also includes facilities such as Patanjali Yog Bhavan, a 200,000 sq. ft. auditorium; Shraddhalayam, a 60,000 sq. ft. air-conditioned auditorium; and Patanjali Wellness, a 40,000 sq. ft. natural wellness center. Balkrishna serves as General Secretary of Patanjali Yogpeeth, while Ramdev serves as Vice-Chancellor.
