Ramjas College

Ramjas College, founded on 17 January 1917 by educationist and philanthropist Rai Kedar Nath, is one of the oldest constituent colleges of the University of Delhi, situated in its North Campus. Named after Nath's father, Lala Ramjas, it is one of the three founding colleges of the University of Delhi, alongside Hindu College and St. Stephen's College. Initially run by the Ramjas Foundation, it was upgraded to degree level when the University of Delhi was established in 1922. The college moved locations several times, including to Anand Parbat in 1924, before relocating to its current site in 1950, with the present building inaugurated by Dr Rajendra Prasad in 1951. Dr. B. R. Ambedkar served as Chairman of its Governing Body, and Martin Luther King Jr. addressed students there in 1959. The college celebrated its centenary in 2016–2017, marked by a commemorative postage stamp. It hosts the Ramjas Political Review journal and organised the first Delhi University Literature Festival in 2023. Academically, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across arts, sciences, and commerce, with admissions now conducted through CUET. The campus, known as the 'Rainforest' for its greenery, includes an auditorium, conference hall, sports facilities, and 27 departmental libraries.
