UMA NATH SINGH AUTONOMOUS STATE MEDICAL COLLEGE SOCIETY JAUNPUR
Umanath Singh Autonomous State Medical College, previously known as Government Medical College, Jaunpur, is a state medical college situated near Jaunpur in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. The institution is located in the Karanjakala block of Jaunpur district, along Shahganj Road, which connects Jaunpur to Shahganj. The foundation stone of the college was laid by Akhilesh Yadav, then Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, in September 2014 (sources within the text give the date as either 24 or 25 September 2014). In September 2019, the Government of Uttar Pradesh decided to establish an autonomous society to manage and run the college. Later, in July 2021, Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister at the time, announced that the college would be renamed Umanath Singh Medical College. The college thus transitioned from being a government-run institution to an autonomous state medical college under its new name.
