Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) is a government medical college and tertiary care teaching hospital located in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, India. It was established in 1970 after a society named Vaishali Shiksha Pratisthan was registered in March 1970 to promote professional and technical education in Bihar. The college admitted its first batch for the 1969–70 session, initially teaching at the S.K.J. Law College building, with Dr. S.M. Nawab as founding principal. A 170-acre campus named Umanagar was later developed along the Muzaffarpur–Sitamarhi road, and the college moved there in January 1973. After MCI inspections in 1975 and 1977, the MBBS program was recognized, and the college was taken over by the Government of Bihar on 1 October 1979. The attached Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital provides outpatient and inpatient care, emergency and trauma services, ICUs, and super-specialty departments including Cardiology, Neurosurgery, and Plastic Surgery, along with diagnostic laboratories. The campus also hosts the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, operated under the Tata Memorial Centre and the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, providing specialized cancer care and research facilities.
