NATIONAL SPORTS UNIVERSITY
National Sports University is a central university in Manipur, India, established with a specialization in sports education. Its designated permanent location is near the village of Koutruk in the Imphal West district, though it currently functions from a temporary campus in Imphal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the university on 16 March 2018, marking a significant step toward developing dedicated infrastructure for sports education in the region. The university offers a range of academic programs, including a Bachelor of Physical Education & Sports, as well as B.Sc., M.Sc., and M.A. degrees, catering to students interested in pursuing higher education in sports-related fields. As a central university, it falls under the purview of national educational policies, aiming to promote sports science, physical education, and related disciplines in India. The institution represents an effort to enhance sports training and academic research in the country, with its eventual move to the permanent campus near Koutruk expected to further support its mission and expand its facilities for students and faculty alike.
