BALASORE SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING BALASORE

The Jhadeswar Institute of Engineering & Technology (JIET), located in Balasore, Odisha, is a private diploma engineering school established in 2009 by the Jhadeswar Educational Trust, which had earlier set up an ITI in 2007. The institute is affiliated to SCTE & VT, Odisha, and is approved by AICTE. Its campus lies about 1.5 km from National Highway 5A, roughly 5 km from Balasore town and 6 km from Balasore railway station and bus stop. The institution provides basic facilities including bus and hostel services, a canteen, and a library, though the library is noted to have insufficient books for the curriculum. JIET offers a three-year diploma engineering program under the SCTE & VT curriculum in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering. Admission is through the Diploma Entrance Test conducted by SCTE & VT after matriculation, with lateral entry available for ITI or +2 Science graduates directly into the third semester. The institute faced controversy in 2010 when it was found guilty of hacking the DET Orissa website to auto-select students during e-counselling, affecting about 32 students, with the principal held responsible.
