OP JINDAL UNIVERSITY
O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) is a private deemed university established in 2009 under the Haryana Private Universities (Amendment) Act, 2009, named after industrialist Om Prakash Jindal and founded by his son Naveen Jindal. In 2020, it was designated an Institute of Eminence by the Government of India. JGU has appeared in QS World University Rankings, ranked in bands from 651–700 to 951–1000 between 2020 and 2024, and its Jindal Global Law School was ranked India's top law school by QS Subject Rankings from 2020 to 2024. The university supports student initiatives such as a legal aid clinic, a moot court society, and cultural and sports festivals (Biswamil and Magnus). Its Jindal Global Business School and Jindal School of Banking & Finance offer a blended MBA in Digital Finance and Banking with upGrad, while Jindal Global Law School offers a one-year LL.M. in residential and non-residential formats. JGU has faced controversies including non-participation in NIRF prior to 2022, a privacy breach case involving Professor Sameena Dalwai, student suspensions over a Ram Mandir discussion in 2024, and scrutiny over its non-residential LL.M. programme's recognition status.
