KHANGCHENDZONGA STATE UNIVERSITY
Khangchendzonga State University is a new government state university situated in Gangtok, Sikkim, India. It was established in 2018 under the name Sikkim State University, in accordance with The Sikkim State University Act, 2003. In 2021, the institution was renamed Khangchendzonga State University through Act number 16 of 2021, which was passed by the Sikkim State Assembly. The university's name honors Mount Khangchendzonga, also spelled Kangchenjunga, which is recognized as the highest mountain peak in India. As part of its academic offerings, the university provides postgraduate degree programs in several regional and classical languages, including Bhutia, Lepcha, Limboo, Nepali, and Sanskrit. The institution's official website is ksus.ac.in, where further information about the university can be accessed. This transformation from Sikkim State University to Khangchendzonga State University reflects a renewed identity for the institution while maintaining its foundational establishment date and continuing its role as a state-run educational body in the Indian state of Sikkim.
