Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology

Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology (NIIFT) is a fashion institute based in Mohali, Punjab, with branches in Jalandhar and Ludhiana. Founded in 1995, it offers full-time academic programs at both graduate and postgraduate levels, and has recently launched a PhD program. Its offerings include a three-year undergraduate diploma in Fashion Design, available at all three locations, which culminates in a final-semester fashion show called Anukama featuring student collections on the ramp. Another three-year undergraduate diploma, Textile Design, focuses on textiles, prints, fabric development, weaves, and surface embellishments, showcased annually at an exhibition called SUVAYAN. NIIFT also provides two-year postgraduate diploma programs in Knitwear Design and Garment Manufacturing Technology, the latter available in Mohali, as well as a program in Fashion Retail Management. In 2010, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal approved the merger of NIIFT, Mohali, along with its Ludhiana and Jalandhar centers, with the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Delhi, with a sanctioned sum of Rs. 48 crores over three years for this purpose.
