Maulana Azad College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Aurangabad.

Maulana Azad College of Arts and Science was founded in 1963 by Rafiq Zakaria, who created the Maulana Azad Education Society to manage it. The college occupies the Naukhanda palace, a royal palace of the Nizams once occupied by Nizam Ali Khan, Asaf Jah II, located at Rauza Bagh, Aurangabad. It started with 144 students and later added faculties of Commerce, Geology, Industrial Chemistry, Instrumentation Practice, Electronics and Microbiology, along with vacation courses at the +2 junior college level. The college is part of the larger Dr. Rafiq Zakaria Campus, which also includes institutions such as the Marathwada College of Education, Y.B. Chavan College of Pharmacy, Hinduja Technological Center, Institute of Hotel Management, Horniman College of Journalism, and the Tom Patrick Institute of Computer and IT. The campus grew out of Zakaria's efforts to restore a historic Mughal-era madrassa site and address the poverty and educational backwardness of the Marathwada region.
