Bihar University of Health Sciences

Bihar University of Health Sciences (BUHS) is a public medical university situated in Patna, Bihar, India. It was established on 1 July 2022 by the Government of Bihar through the enactment of The Bihar University of Health Sciences Act 2021 (Bihar Act No. 19 of 2021). The university was formed to bring together all existing health science colleges and institutions—set up by the government, trusts, or societies—that were previously affiliated with conventional universities in Bihar, in order to ensure proper, systematic, and uniform instruction, teaching, training, and research in both modern and Indian systems of medicine. The Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Samrat Choudhary, serves as the chancellor of BUHS, while Dr. Surendra Nath Sinha was appointed as the university's first vice-chancellor, marking its formal activation. As an affiliating university, BUHS holds jurisdiction over all medical, nursing, and paramedical colleges across the entire state of Bihar. Currently, the university operates from the office of AKU. The institution oversees a range of affiliated colleges, including government and private medical colleges, nursing colleges, and pharmacy colleges, though specific details of these affiliated colleges were not elaborated upon in the available text.
