Andhra Christian College, Guntur

Andhra Christian College, commonly known as A.C. College, is a Christian institution of higher education situated in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was founded in 1885 by Protestant missionaries from the United States and was among the first colleges in India to offer graduate programs. The college's origins are linked to the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church, which was established on 31 July 1842 by Rev. Fr. John Christian Frederick Heyer, known as Father Heyer, under the then United Lutheran Church in America (ULCA). Today, the college is administered by the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church through its Board of Education. It comprises three main entities: a Day College, an Evening College, and a College of Law, offering intermediate, undergraduate, and postgraduate programmes. The college has had a succession of distinguished pastors serving as administrators throughout its history, with Dr. Moses currently serving as Principal. The institution has also gained recognition in popular culture, having served as a filming location for several Telugu films, including Pilla Zamindar, Chalo, and Brochevarevarura, in which the campus was used to represent fictional colleges.
