Rani Channamma University, Belagavi

Rani Channamma University is a public university in Belgaum, Karnataka, established by the Government of Karnataka in 2010. It was created by upgrading the Kittur Rani Channamma Post Graduate Centre at Belgaum, which was originally established by Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1982. The university is recognised by the University Grants Commission and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), having been awarded 'Grade B+' as of 2021. In December 2025, an RTI activist filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta alleging irregularities in the procurement of marks cards and degree certificates, naming several university officials including the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, former Registrar (Evaluation), and Finance Officer; the allegations were reported to be under review. The university's main aim is to provide higher education access to students from the North Karnataka region, which lacks adequate educational facilities. Its main campus, 'Vidyasangama', spans 172 acres near Bhutaramanahatti, adjacent to the Pune–Bangalore National Highway 4, about 18 km from Belgavi city, and it has jurisdiction over Belgavi, Bijapur, and Bagalkot districts.
