Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Banaskantha

Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University (SDAU) is a State Agricultural University in India, situated approximately 30 km from Palanpur town in Banaskantha District, Gujarat. It traces its origins to the Gujarat Agricultural University (GAU), which began functioning in June 1972 with a multi-campus structure including sites at Junagadh, Navsari, Anand, and Sardarkrushinagar. GAU aimed to promote agricultural productivity through research in agriculture and allied sciences and had 11 constituent colleges offering undergraduate and postgraduate education. By 1996, GAU had graduated 8,532 students, with 2,159 earning Master's degrees and 393 earning PhDs. On May 1, 2004, the Gujarat Government, through the Gujarat Agricultural Universities Act 2004, split GAU into four independent universities. The Sardarkrushinagar campus in Dantiwada Taluka, formerly the headquarters of GAU, became Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University. It now comprises ten colleges, including the College of Dairy Technology, College of Food Technology, C.P. College of Agriculture, College of Agriculture at Tharad, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, ASPEE College of Home Science, College of Agri-Business Management, College of Basic Science & Humanities, College of Renewable Energy & Environmental Engineering, and College of Horticulture at Jagudan. Note that in 2021, dairy, veterinary, and fisheries colleges were transferred to Kamdhenu University.
