University Law College

University Law College (ULC), Bangalore, is a constituent law college administered directly by Bangalore University. Founded in 1948 by the Government of Mysore as the Bangalore Government Law College, it was brought under Bangalore University's Faculty of Law in 1964. Under Principal Prof. Dr. V.B. Coutinho, ULC introduced India's first five-year integrated B.A.LL.B. program in 1986–87, later adopted nationally as a model for professional legal education. Originally located in the Central College Campus, ULC moved in 2006–07 to a new eco-friendly building in the Jnana Bharathi Campus, featuring classrooms, seminar halls, a library, and administrative offices, along with separate hostel facilities for male and female students. ULC currently offers a five-year B.A.LL.B.(Hons) program with 60 annual admissions and a two-year LL.M. program across five specializations. The college hosts active student activities including an NSS unit established in 2008, an annual All India Moot Court Competition organized by the Society of Mooters, sports tournaments, and cultural and literary festivals, reflecting a well-rounded academic and extracurricular environment.
