Dr.B.R.Ambedkar College of Law
Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College of Law, originally named Andhra University College of Law, was established on 4 July 1945. It initially functioned in a private building at Machilipatnam due to the exigencies of the Second World War, before shifting to the University campus in 1949. The college owes its genesis to Dr. C. R. Reddy, the founding vice-chancellor of Andhra University. It was originally part of the Department of Arts, Commerce and Law College, but was reconstituted as a separate college of law on 14 April 1989. On 10 May 1991, it was renamed Dr. B. R. Ambedkar College of Law in honour of Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar. The college is recognised as an advanced center in Law by the University Grants Commission. It offers academic programs including LL.B. (three years), LL.M. (two years), B.A., LL.B. (five years), and Ph.D. programs (full-time and part-time). The college has had several principals since 1989, and its alumni and faculty include notable figures such as former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Supreme Court Justice Jasti Chalameswar Rao, Justice K. Rama Swamy, and Delhi High Court Chief Justice G. Rohini.
