College of Agriculture, Vijayapur (also referred to as Bijapur) is listed as one of the constituent colleges of the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UASD), a state agriculture university established by the Government of Karnataka. UASD imparts education, research, and extension activities in agriculture, forestry, food science, agricultural marketing, and home science. The university's jurisdiction covers seven districts in northern Karnataka: Bagalkot, Belgaum (Belagavi), Bijapur (Vijayapura), Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttar Kannada, a region noted for its diversity in soil types, climate, topography, and farming practices. UASD itself was established on 1 October 1986 after the Government of Karnataka enacted legislation to bifurcate the earlier University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore (UASB). Besides the College of Agriculture, Vijayapur, other constituent colleges of UASD include the College of Agriculture, Dharwad; College of Community Sciences, Dharwad; College of Agriculture, Hanumanamatti; and College of Forestry, Sirsi. No specific founding date or additional historical details for the Vijayapur college itself are provided in the available text.
