GOVERNMENT POLYTECHNIC JHANSI

Government Polytechnic Jhansi is a technical college affiliated with the Uttar Pradesh Board of Technical Education and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education. Its principal is Naveen Kumar. The institute is located on Gwalior Road near the Kanpur barrier, close to Asharam Ashram, about 5 km from the railway station and bus stand. The foundation of the polytechnic was laid in 1958 on the 'Karam Bhumi' of Maharani Laxmi Bai, popularly known as 'Jhansi Ki Rani'. The institute began academic sessions in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, later adding Automobile Engineering in 1971, Electronics Engineering in 1972, and Computer Applications in 1993. It currently offers five engineering diploma courses: Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (auto), Mechanical Engineering (pro), Civil Engineering, and Electrical Engineering, with annual intakes of 30, 30, 30, 40, 30, and 40 respectively. Diploma certificates are awarded by the Board of Technical Education, U.P., Lucknow. The campus includes an administrative building, an academic building, a hostel, N.C.C. blocks, and a playground.
