S.C.B. Medical College, Cuttack

S.C.B. Medical College and Hospital, formally known as Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College and Hospital, is a public medical college in Cuttack, Odisha, India. It traces its origins to a small dispensary established in the late 18th century, which was expanded into a hospital after the British occupation of Orissa in 1803. In 1875, William Day Stewart established the Orissa Medical School, which was renamed Orissa Medical College in 1944 and later became Srirama Chandra Bhanja Medical College in 1951, honoring Maharaja Sriram Chandra Bhanj Deo of Mayurbhanj State. The college is affiliated with Utkal University and received MBBS degree recognition from the Medical Council of India in 1952. It offers MBBS, BDS, and postgraduate MD/MS courses, along with DM and MCh programs since 1981 in Cardiology and Neurosurgery. The college has an intake of 250 MBBS students and over 150 postgraduate seats, with admissions through NEET-UG and NEET-PG/state exams. It was ranked 44th in India by the NIRF medical ranking for 2022. The campus spans 101 acres and includes multiple student hostels and an annual cultural festival called Synapse.
