School of Commerce
The McIntire School of Commerce is the University of Virginia's undergraduate and graduate business school, specializing in Commerce, Global Commerce, Accounting, Management of Information Technology, and Business Analytics. It was founded in 1921 through a $200,000 gift from stockbroker, alumnus, and Charlottesville philanthropist Paul Goodloe McIntire. The three-year undergraduate program offers a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Management, and Marketing; students apply at the end of their first year and enter the school in their second year. McIntire also offers five graduate programs: M.S. in Commerce, M.S. in Global Commerce, M.S. in Accounting, M.S. in Management of Information Technology, and M.S. in Business Analytics (the last in partnership with the Darden School of Business). The school operated separately from the College of Arts and Sciences and was approved as a professional school by the University's Board of Visitors in 1952. It has had five deans, and has been located in Monroe Hall (1930–2007) and Rouss Hall (since 2007), with an expansion project opening in 2025.
