Kakatiya Institute of Technology & Science (KITSW) was established in 1980 under the Ekasila Education Society, with its foundation stone laid by former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao. It began operations with two B.Tech programs—Civil and Mechanical Engineering—on a 65-acre campus in Hasanparthy, Warangal district, Telangana, near Yerragattu Hillock. It was the first private engineering college in the Telangana region and, in 1981, became the first institution in India to offer a B.Tech program in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. The college has grown into a full-fledged postgraduate institution offering nine B.Tech programs, ten postgraduate programs, and doctoral research through six departments recognized by NIT Warangal and Kakatiya University. Admissions to undergraduate courses are conducted through the EAMCET and TS ECET exams, with provisions for lateral entry, foreign students, and NRIs. The campus is Wi-Fi enabled with OFC connectivity. Student life includes technical and cultural activities through the Student Activity Center, clubs such as SAE and IEEE student chapters, and events like Sanskriti, Mechovision, and Electrocom. The institute also has ties to the Indian Society for Technical Education, a national professional body advancing technological education.
