UBDT College of Engineering, Davanagere

University B.D.T. College of Engineering (UBDTCE), located in Davangere, Karnataka, was started in 1951 with a single branch in civil engineering. It was named after Brahmappa Devendrappa Tavanappanavar following a donation by B.T. Chandranna. The foundation stone was laid in 1951 by the Maharaja of Mysore, and the building was inaugurated in 1956. Over time, additional branches such as Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology, and Industrial & Production were introduced. The college became a constituent college of Kuvempu University in 1992, later of Davangere University in 2009, and finally of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in 2011. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in various engineering disciplines, along with MBA and MCA courses. Admission is through CET and PGCET conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority. The college has produced about 40 PhDs and enrolls around 2,000 students. It received World Bank-aided TEQIP Project Phase-I funding and has NBA accreditation for several departments. The institution hosts an annual cultural festival, 'Chaitra', and has active NCC, Red Cross, and placement units, with companies like TCS, Infosys, and Siemens recruiting students.
