Hitkarini Law College, Jabalpur

Hitkarini Law College, Jabalpur was established in 1934 by the Hitkarini Sabha, a historic, educational, non-profit organization founded in 1868 by Raj Balwant Rao Kher, Diwan Biharilal Khajanchi, and Shri Ambika Charan Banerjee in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is noted as the oldest law college in Madhya Pradesh. The college is one of several institutions run by the Hitkarini Sabha, which was expanded in the 1930s and 1970s to include additional colleges and schools. The Hitkarini Sabha itself has played a significant role in the development of the Hindi language and was involved in nationalist activities, including participation in the swaraj movement, influenced by Seth Govind Das. Many distinguished scholars, authors, and politicians have been associated with institutions run by the Hitkarini Sabha, either as students or visiting lecturers. Today, the Hitkarini Sabha runs 8 colleges, 18 schools, and a computer center, serving more than 13,000 students with over 1000 teachers and staff. The organization celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2017, reflecting its long-standing role in education in Jabalpur.
