Nagaon G.N.D.G. Commerce College
Nagaon GNDG Commerce College is situated in Panigaon, Nagaon, Assam, and is affiliated with Gauhati University, Guwahati, though it is not an autonomous college. The institution was founded on 24 September 1984 under the name Nagaon Commerce College, initially operating from the premises of Sankardev Natya Chora with only 139 students. It was later renamed Nagaon GNDG Commerce College in honor of Gopinath Dev Goswami, a notable son of Nagaon, and moved to its present site at Panigaon in 1991. The college owes its founding to Ratnakanta Bora, a retired IAS officer and founder president, along with founder-principal Kamal Chandra Goswami and donations from the Gopinath Dev Goswami family. It is described as the only full-fledged institution of higher education in commerce in the entire central Assam region. Academically, the college offers B.Com. semester courses focusing on Accountancy, Management, and Finance, a BBA program, and starting from the 2020-2021 session, a B.Sc. program with majors in Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, and Mathematics, as per a Government of Assam notification.
