Kalindi College
Kalindi College is an all-girls' college of the University of Delhi, situated on a small, 8.25 acre, non-residential campus in East Patel Nagar, New Delhi. Its motto, 'ज्ञानं शीलं धर्मश्चैव भूषणं', translates to 'The Real Ornaments are Knowledge, Modesty and Sense of Duty'. The college originally began as 'Government College Devnagar' before being relocated within a year to its current site, a Government School building in East Patel Nagar. It initially offered undergraduate programme courses in Humanities and Pure Sciences, later introducing Honours courses in Humanities in 1971, Commerce programme courses in 1977, and Science Honours courses starting with physics in 1990. English-language Journalism was introduced in 1995, making Kalindi one of seven Delhi University colleges to offer this course. Commerce courses were upgraded to Honours in 1998, and postgraduate courses in Political Science, Hindi, and Sanskrit were added in the late 20th century. The college later added Honours courses in Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, and Geography. Degrees offered include Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Vocational (Web Designing), and Master of Arts. A notable alumna is Mayawati, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
