Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya, Bilaspur

Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya is a central university in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, India, and one of the state's largest and oldest higher education institutions. Formerly known as Guru Ghasidas University, it was formally inaugurated on 16 June 1983 by an Act of the State Legislative Assembly, and later established as a central university under the Central Universities Act 2009, No. 25 of 2009. It is named after the Satnami Guru Ghasidas. The university is an active member of the Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and has been accredited 'A++' by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC). The campus spans 700 acres near Bilaspur town, with the Arpa river running alongside it. Facilities include the Nalanda Central Library, an auditorium, six residential hostels, a health centre, a sports complex, a cafeteria, a bank, a post office, and university transport. Academic divisions include the School of Studies in Engineering and Technology, established in 1997, and the National Centre for Accelerator-Based Research. The university was ranked 43 in pharmacy by the National Institutional Ranking Framework.
