GOVERNMENT MEDICAL COLLEGE, CHANDRAPUR

Karmaveer Kannamwar Government Medical College, Chandrapur was founded in 2015 in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India. It is affiliated to MUHS, Nashik and operates under the Director of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, being wholly funded by the Government of Maharashtra. NMC permission was granted in 2015. The college is named after Marotrao Kannamwar, the 2nd Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and was started on the premises of the District T.B. Hospital, later merging with the District Civil Hospital. A new campus is under construction off the Chandrapur Bypass road on 50 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 600 crores, which will also include a Cancer hospital established by TATA Cancer Care Foundation and the Government of Maharashtra. The college has clinical, pre-clinical, and para-clinical departments including Medicine, Surgery, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Forensic Medicine. Infrastructure includes hospital buildings, an auditorium, library, hostels, and a gymnasium. The MBBS course began in 2015 with an intake of 100 students, increased to 150 in 2019–20, with admissions through CET and NEET.
