SKR College, Barbigha
S.K.R College, officially known as Shri Krishna Ramruchi College, is a government college situated in Barbigha, Bihar, India. Founded in 1955 by Krishna Mohan Pyare Singh, a freedom fighter and the first MLA of Barbigha, the college was named in honor of Shri Krishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar, and his wife Ramruchi Devi. At its inception, it was one of the very few higher education institutions in the state and the only one in the town. Originally affiliated with Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University, the college became affiliated with Munger University after the university's bifurcation in 2018. In December 2024, the college received ₹5 crores in funding under the PM-USHA Scheme to enhance its academic and infrastructural facilities. Leadership changes occurred in 2025, with Dr. Rajmanohar Kumar succeeding Dr. Nawal Prasad as principal by February, followed by the appointment of Prof. Sanjay Kumar as principal on 12 July 2025. The college offers degrees in Arts, Science, and Commerce but functions as a 'dummy college,' lacking regular classes while serving as an examination center for IGNOU and the Bihar Board. Its campus includes a large playground used for sports, jogging, driver training, political rallies, and cricket tournaments.
