FATHER MULLER NURSING COLLEGE THUMBAY
Father Muller Nursing College, associated with the Father Muller Charitable Institutions (FMCI) in Mangaluru, Karnataka, originated from the School of Nursing established under Father Muller Hospital, which was founded in 1880 by Fr. Augustus Muller, a German Jesuit priest. The School of Nursing offered diplomas in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), and later expanded into a College of Nursing offering a Bachelor of Nursing Science degree. The institution operates within the larger FMCI network, which also includes Father Muller Medical College, established in 1989 as the Fr. Muller Institute of Medical Education and Research. FMCI runs multiple hospitals, including the Father Muller Medical College Hospital and the Father Muller Hospital at Thumbay, Mangalore, which serves as a rural connect and postgraduate training hospital. The institutions are administered under the Diocese of Mangalore, with the Bishop of Mangalore serving as president. FMCI also conducts community health initiatives, rural health postings, and annual events such as the Graduation Ceremony and Institutions’ Day, during which hundreds of students across different streams receive their degrees.
