College of Dairy Science & Technology
College of Dairy Science & Technology (CDST), Mannuthy, was established in 1993 as the first B.Tech. programme in Dairy Science & Technology in Kerala, initially under the Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Sciences of Kerala Agricultural University. It was upgraded to full college status in 1998, and with the formation of the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) in 2010, it became an independent Faculty within that university. The college offers a B.Tech. programme in Dairy Science & Technology and an M.Tech. programme in Dairy Technology, with admissions through the Common Engineering Entrance Examination and ICAR entrance exams. The curriculum, aligned with ICAR guidelines, spans eight semesters including in-plant training, farm training, and hands-on experiential learning with companies like Milma, Amul, and Schreiber Dynamix. The college emphasizes extracurricular and co-curricular activities, NSS and NCC programs, and organizes study tours across Kerala and India. It has produced over 350 dairy professionals who work in the dairy industry, research institutes, and academia, with graduates recruited by firms such as Almarai, ITC Foods, Milma, and Hatsun Agro Products, as well as government dairy development departments.
