Anna University Regional Campus - Madurai

Anna University Regional Campus - Madurai, earlier known as Anna University of Technology, Madurai, is a technological university situated in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It was formed in 2010 following the division of Anna University into six separate universities, including campuses at Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, and Madurai. The university was accredited with powers to grant affiliations to colleges offering graduate, postgraduate, and diploma courses, and was recognized by the University Grants Commission. Dr. R. Murugesan served as its founding vice-chancellor, supported by a leadership team overseeing examinations, academics, admissions, research, and affiliations. The university had 46 affiliated colleges and three campuses located at Madurai, Ramanathapuram, and Dindigul. It initially operated within Madurai Kamaraj University before relocating to a campus on National Highway 7 at Keelakuilkudi, near the Samanar Hills. On 14 September 2011, a bill was passed merging the six universities back into Anna University Chennai, after which this institution continued to function as a regional campus offering BTech and MTech programmes. The campus is served by a dedicated bus route connecting it to Madurai city.
