New Horizon College of Engineering, BANGALORE
New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE) is a private engineering college located near Marathahalli, in Bangalore, India. Established in 2001, it is part of the New Horizon Educational Institution, founded in 1970. In 2024, the college was ranked between 151 and 200 in Engineering by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. It is accredited by NAAC with an 'A' grade and by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), approved by AICTE and UGC. The college hosts an annual cultural festival, Sargam Fest, which in 2022 saw student arrests over alleged pro-Pakistan slogans. In 2014, the college faced controversy for demanding advance tuition fees before returning student documents, a practice later deemed 'blackmail' by a consumer forum, and the college lost a related 2018 lawsuit. In 2024, NHCE was investigated for an alleged seat-blocking and money laundering scheme, leading to a June 2025 raid by the Enforcement Directorate. However, the Karnataka High Court later noted no charge sheet had been filed against the college, and in August 2025 it quashed the state's refusal to approve increased student intake, directing authorities to issue the necessary NOC.
