INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT KOZHIKODE

Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode was instituted in 1996 by the Government of India in collaboration with the Government of Kerala, becoming the fifth IIM established. Its first batch of 42 students began in 1997 at a temporary campus at NIT Calicut. The permanent hill-top campus at Kunnamangalam, designed by Joseph Stein and Stein Mani Chowla Architects, became operational in 2003 and was inaugurated by President APJ Abdul Kalam. The campus spans 111 acres across two hills of the Western Ghats and includes 17 hostels housing about 900 students. IIM Kozhikode introduced Interactive Learning for executives in 2001–02, started its doctoral Fellow Program in Management in 2007, and increased PGP intake over the years, including raising women's intake to 30% from 2010–12. In 2010, it partnered with Yale University under the Singh-Obama Knowledge Initiative. The institute also hosts a fully automated Library & Information Center, the Indian Business Museum (established 2010), a satellite campus in Kochi opened in 2012 offering executive programmes, and the Laboratory for Innovation, Venturing and Entrepreneurship (LIVE), a business incubator set up in 2016 with support from the Department of Science and Technology.
