National Institute of Technology Nagaland
National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland or NITN) is a higher education technology institute located in Chümoukedima, Nagaland, India, about 14 km from Dimapur. It is one of the 31 National Institutes of Technology in India, set up by the Government of India in 2009 as part of the Eleventh Five-Year Plan (2007–2012) to impart technical education in Nagaland. NIT Silchar mentored NIT Nagaland during its initial two years, and the first batch (2010-2014) studied at NIT Silchar before the institute shifted to its home state in September 2012. It is a federally funded technical university established by an Act of the Indian Parliament, managed by the NIT Nagaland Society, and fully funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. The institute offers six undergraduate engineering courses, four master's courses, an MSc in physics, and an integrated MSc (BSMS) in material science. It was formally inaugurated on 13 October 2012 by Kapil Sibal. NIRF ranked it between 151-200 in engineering rankings in 2024. The institute hosts an annual techno-cultural festival called Ekarikthin and has a research-oriented Computer Science and Engineering department.
