College of Medicine and Sagar Dutta Hospital

College of Medicine & Sagore Dutta Hospital (CMSDH), also known as Sagar Dutta Medical College, is a tertiary referral government hospital, medical college and research institute situated at Kamarhati, in the suburbs of Kolkata, West Bengal. It was set up by the Government of West Bengal on 5 August 2010 and began MBBS courses in 2011 to address the shortfall of doctors in the state. The institution grew from the Sagore Dutt Charitable Hospital and Dispensary, a philanthropic body dating back to before 1937, which was taken over by the Government of West Bengal under the Sagore Dutt Hospital Act, 1958. The college is affiliated to the West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognised by the National Medical Commission. It offers MBBS, Postgraduate (MD/MS) courses since 2019, and various diploma and paramedical courses under the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal. The campus spans 17.63 acres and includes an eight-storey academic building, a six-storey hospital with 500 beds and 11 operation theatres, hostels, a nursing college, and residential quarters. Admission to MBBS is through NEET-UG, to postgraduate courses through NEET-PG, and to diploma courses through SMFWBEE.
