PRAVARA MEDICAL TRUST AHMEDNAGAR
Pravara Medical Trust is based in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, India, and serves as the parent trust of the Pravara Institute of Medical Sciences. The trust was founded by Vithalrao Vikhe Patil in 1972, while the university itself was founded by Balasaheb Vikhe Patil. In 2003, the University Grants Commission granted it status as a Deemed University, a designation now referred to as 'Deemed to be university' following recent regulatory changes. The institution operates as a deemed-to-be university with several constituent colleges under its umbrella. These include Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil Rural Medical College, formerly known as Rural Medical College, Loni; Rural Dental College; Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam College of Physiotherapy; College of Nursing; Centre for Biotechnology; and Centre for Social Medicine. Together, these constituent units form the academic and research framework of the institution, covering fields such as medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, nursing, biotechnology, and social medicine. The trust's establishment by Vithalrao Vikhe Patil and the university's founding by Balasaheb Vikhe Patil reflect the institution's long-standing commitment to medical and health sciences education in the Ahmednagar region of Maharashtra.
