University College of Engineering, Kariavattom (UCEK) is a Government of Kerala controlled engineering college directly managed by the University of Kerala, established in 2000 within the Golden Jubilee Complex of the Kariavattom Campus in Thiruvananthapuram. It is the only constituent college of the University of Kerala, with an administration panel including the Governor of Kerala as Chancellor, the Minister for Higher Education as Pro-chancellor, the Vice-chancellor, Registrar, and Principal. The foundation stone of the campus was laid by Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in 1963. The college offers four-year B.Tech programmes in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Information Technology, with a total intake capacity divided among these departments. After the establishment of APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University in 2014, UCEK remains the only engineering college affiliated with the University of Kerala. The college provides student facilities such as a library, cafeterias, transport, a bank/ATM, health center, and various laboratories. It also hosts student clubs like IEEE Student Branch, Research and Development Cell, and a Career Guidance and Placement Cell, with major recruiters including TCS, Infosys, and IBM. The 77th session of the Indian History Congress was held here in 2016, inaugurated by former President Pranab Mukherjee.
