KALYANI INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES
AIIMS Kalyani, located in West Bengal, is part of the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), a group of autonomous government public medical universities operating under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. These institutions have been declared Institutes of National Importance by an Act of Parliament. AIIMS Kalyani was announced during the 2014–15 budget speech by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley as part of a plan to establish four new AIIMS institutions, in Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, and the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh, with a budget allocation of ₹500 crore. These were later retroactively grouped as 'Phase-IV' institutes under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) initiative, which aimed to correct regional imbalances in tertiary healthcare availability. While AIIMS Mangalagiri and AIIMS Nagpur became operational in 2018, AIIMS Kalyani, along with AIIMS Gorakhpur, started operation in 2019. No further specific details about its administration, courses, or affiliations are provided in the available text.
