Chanakya National Law University, Patna

Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) is a public law school and National Law University situated in the Mithapur area of Patna, Bihar, India, on an 18-acre campus. It was established on 15 August 2006 under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006) and is included under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956, with jurisdiction over the whole state of Bihar. The Chief Justice of the Patna High Court serves as the ex officio chancellor, while the Vice Chancellor is Dr. Faizan Mustafa and the Registrar (I/C) is Dr. SP Singh. CNLU offers a five-year integrated B.A., LL.B (Hons) and B.B.A., LL.B (Hons) program through the Common Law Admissions Test, with 140 seats including reservations for NRI and foreign nationals, requiring 200 credits for graduation. It also offers a one-year LL.M program with 40 seats via its own entrance test. The university publishes journals such as the CNLU Law Journal, JAIRIPA, and The Chanakya Law Review, and hosts student activities including mooting, debating, an annual fest called Jeevatva, a legal aid society, and a Chanakya Premier League sports event.
