NICMAR INSTITUTE OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT AND RESEARCH

NICMAR University, also known as the National Institute of Construction Management and Research, is a higher education institution in India that pioneered techno-managerial studies. It was established in 1982 through a joint effort of major Indian construction companies led by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), whose chairman Ajit Gulabchand proposed setting up an advanced research center in construction management; HCC contributed ₹30,000,000 towards its founding. The institute's headquarters were initially at Walchand Centre, Tardeo, Mumbai. In 1990, NICMAR was accredited as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It later became recognized as a state-private university by the UGC, following the passing of the NICMAR University Pune Act by the Maharashtra State Government in 2022. NICMAR maintains a large library and modern facilities at its main campus in Pune, and offers MBA and postgraduate programs in construction, project, and real estate management, along with executive education and (until 2018) distance education programs. It has collaborated with organizations such as MIT, the International Labour Organization, IIM Ahmedabad, PMI, and Microsoft for academic and technical partnerships.
