SHRI GULABRAO DEOKAR COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

According to available text, the institution is part of a group of private colleges in Jalgaon city established by Gulabrao Baburao Deokar, a politician who served as a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly representing the Jalgaon Rural constituency and was affiliated with the Nationalist Congress Party (and later the Nationalist Congress Party Sharadchandra Pawar faction). During the 2000s to 2010s, Deokar founded several private educational institutions in Jalgaon and named them after himself, including the 'Gulabrao Deokar institute of pharmacy and research centre,' a college of engineering, and a polytechnic college. The text notes that students at these colleges are required to pay large fees, and sometimes donations, especially when seeking admission through the management quota. No specific founding year, affiliating university or board, or official website for the pharmacy college is mentioned in the available text. Deokar himself was later convicted in a major corruption case known as the Jalgaon housing scam, for which he was sentenced to five years imprisonment by the Dhule District Court in 2019.
